Electric Loader Delivers Energy Cost Savings
WRITTEN BY BEN TAYLOR – SUSTAINABILITY LEAD

In March 2026 EcoCentral took delivery of our first fully battery electric loader. Loaders are an important part of EcoCentral’s operations, moving large volumes of material across our EcoSort and EcoDrop sites.
With loaders contributing to around half of our operational emissions, introducing an electric loader is a meaningful step in our emissions reduction journey, the electric loader also helps improve operational efficiency through reduced diesel costs.
Analysis of operating data since the electric loader entered service in March indicates significant energy cost savings. Based on annualised electricity use, the loader is expected to reduce annual energy costs by approximately $41,397 or 76%, compared with the diesel loader it replaced.
The electric loader is also expected to reduce EcoCentral’s climate impact, with an estimated reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of 63 tonnes of CO₂e per year over the diesel equivalent.
